My grandson is 8 years old. He has been hating going to school at the end of last year and was very emotional about it but never said anything to mom, dad or grandma.
My daughter got a phone call yesterday from school. The school said my grandson is being bullied by this one child and has been doing it since last year. The latest incident was at lunch time he tried to trip him and was laughing at him. After lunch the bully said "come over here I want to shake your hand". My grandson walked over to him and the bully slapped him in the face. My grandson just broke down crying.
Another teacher saw him crying and my grandson said he wants to go home. The teacher talked him into talking with the counselor. My precious little boy told the counselor what happened and said he wanted to kill himself. He's 8 years old. The counselor asked him how would he kill himself and he said by a gun. My dad has a lot of guns or stabbing myself or hang myself.
The school contacted his dad shortly before school ended and never contacted his mom (they are not together). The school said what we can do is build up my grandson's self-worth and self-esteem.
What about the kid who bullied my grandson? Well, they called his parents. I am devastated beyond belief and so is my daughter. The school said my grandson could talk to the counselor once a week and they can try to watch if the bully does anything bad to him. Watch???
Please give me some advice.
